Why Are Innocent People Suffering?

The seven festivals Christ celebrated, largely unrecognized by many Christians today, were teaching tools pointing toward a coming reconciliation between God and man — designed to address the fundamental question of why suffering exists at all.

Scripture describes death itself as an intrusion, an unnatural consequence of humanity's separation from its Life-Giver — not the natural order it is often assumed to be today. This separation, and the suffering that flows from it, was met with an act of mercy: mortality itself, limiting the scope of suffering in a world otherwise capable of far greater harm.

Behind this condition lies a wider spiritual conflict, described in Ephesians 6:12 as a battle against "rulers of the darkness of this world" — a conflict with a beginning, and, according to Scripture, a promised end.
