The Biblical Joseph Found in Egypt

The ancient Egyptian figure Imhotep — whose name translates roughly to "the voice of Im" — is closely paralleled by the biblical Joseph, whose Egyptian name Zaphenath-paneah is translated "the God lives; the God speaks."

Imhotep was revered as a healer who came to petitioners in dreams — echoing Joseph's own prophetic dreams recorded in Genesis. Ancient inscriptions describing "the words of Imhotep" and his wisdom mirror the biblical description of Joseph's God-given wisdom before Pharaoh.

Perhaps most strikingly, ancient Egyptian records describe Imhotep as having lived to exactly 110 years — the precise age recorded for Joseph in Genesis 50:22.
