Stolen Identity — The Messiah Prophecies
Some 300 prophecies concerning a coming Messiah are recorded in the Old Testament, narrowing progressively from "the seed of the woman" (Genesis 3:15) down to a specific tribe, family line, and even a specific Bethlehem. Of Jesse's eight sons, prophecy pointed to just one — David — establishing the messianic line.
Daniel's prophecy of the "Seventy Weeks" (Daniel 9:24-27) provided a precise timeline: 483 years from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (457 BC, under Artaxerxes) to the appearance of "Messiah the Prince" — arriving at 27 AD, the very year Luke records Jesus beginning his ministry in the synagogue at Nazareth.
The historical reliability of Luke's Gospel — confirmed by scholars for its habitual accuracy in verifiable details — lends further weight to a timeline that identifies Jesus as the fulfillment of this centuries-old prophetic countdown.
